The poem is anonymous in TCD 1381 and BL Add. 40766. The ascription to Fearghal Óg Mac an Bhaird occurs only in TCD 1291, whose text derives from TCD 1381, and has been described by Pádraig Ó Macháin as an invention of its scribe, Aodh Ó Dálaigh.(1)n. 1 Pádraig Ó Macháin, ‘Poems by Fearghal Óg Mac an Bhaird’, Celtica 24 (2003).
